Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
In Wukari Local Government Area, Taraba State, rural roads are crucial for connecting communities to essential services such as healthcare, education, and markets. However, many rural roads remain poorly maintained, which hinders economic growth and access to services. Photography can be a powerful tool for highlighting the condition of these roads, advocating for government action, and mobilizing local communities to demand better infrastructure. This study explores how photography can be used to promote advocacy for the improvement of rural roads in Wukari LGA.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the essential role that rural roads play in facilitating economic development and improving access to services, the roads in Wukari LGA are often in poor condition due to inadequate maintenance and infrastructure development. Photography can serve as a tool to document the deteriorating state of these roads, raise public awareness, and advocate for improved infrastructure.
